A magnificent 1930s art deco cinema located in Harrow is undergoing restoration and preparing to reopen its doors. The Dominion is undergoing extensive renovations to recapture its former splendor, emerging as a four-screen picturehouse.
On the ground floor of the structure, a four-screen picture house will be installed, accompanied by a fresh café and community area. It will revert to its original name, shedding the current moniker of the Safari Cinema. Additionally, the building will undergo transformation into an 11-storey block featuring 82 apartments. Residents will be treated to views overlooking the meticulously restored art deco façade of the building
Although much work lies ahead, evidenced by the current encasement of scaffolding around the exterior of the building, plans divulge the restoration vision, aiming to revive its 1930s allure. This entails reinstating windows across the front, erecting tall columns, adorning with flags, and installing a massive sign in a 1930s-style font.
